Please fill out the dog license application below. Once submitted, the Coburg Police Department will review and process the application and send the license tag to you in the mail. This dog license is good for three (3) years and must be renewed once expired. This service is FREE of charge.
There are many reasons why it is important to license your dog, including;
- Dog licenses are required, ensuring that local laws are being followed, helping avoid fines and penalties associated with unlicensed pets.
- A license provides a means of identification, making it easier for agencies or good Samaritans to return lost pets to their owners. Licensed dogs are less likely to be mistaken for strays, increasing the chances of a quick reunion.
- A dog license requires proof of rabies vaccination. This helps prevent the spread of rabies and other diseases, ensuring that a dog is healthy and safe to be around other animals and people.
Per Ordinance A-220-A (attached below):
A dog license must be renewed within 14 days following expiration. No license shall be issued without proof of rabies vaccination, valid for the term of the license. The license tag issued to the owner must be attached to the dog's collar or harness. If the tag is lost, the owner may obtain a duplicate tag by request to the Coburg Police Department.
Operation of a commercial kennel (place of business for the care of dogs) or non-commercial kennel (any premises with 3 or more dogs kept for hobby of the householder) requires the appropriate license. Kennel licenses are in lieu of individual dog licenses, and the dogs licensed under the kennel license must be confined to the kennel premises at all times. No kennel license shall be issued to anyone not in compliance with applicable land use regulations.
